You know, we’re all cost conscious these days, and one way to cut grocery costs is to get some dry beans.  Beans are a fantastic source of protein, fiber, and minerals.  There are all kinds of ways to use them in soups, salads or other dishes, and I’ll let you know about a wonderful bean cookbook below.  For now though, I thought a good little lesson on the basics of cooking beans would be a good idea.

Seems like you can’t mention beans without somebody making a joke about them being the musical fruit or some such silliness.  Well, there’s a very simple way to cook dry beans so you don’t have that—er—windy problem.  It’s a little more involved than popping that frozen dinner in the microwave, but it’s simple and well worth doing.  In a nutshell, all you have to do is soak, drain, and boil.  That’s how the bubbly young couple in the video here simplify it.  Take two and a half minutes to see their little teaching session by clicking on the video below.

Don’t be afraid to try beans.  Experiment!  It could be essential to your very survival.  The authors of The Brilliant Bean show you how to prepare 25 kinds of beans in over 200 recipes that include soups, salads, main dishes, even desserts.  You’ll never run out of creative, healthful ways to use beans with The Brilliant Bean.Get your copy of The Brilliant Bean by clicking on the logo below.
