they use a lot of power… not worth the $ is costs to grow stuff, costs about 1/10th the price to buy fresh herbs in the grocery store.
I’m curious to know if others have experience with this unit or something similar. Can you verify what Thomas says? I want to encourage others to grow hydroponically, especially over winter, and the AeroGarden? is just one way to do it. There are other ways, and you can discover some of them by clicking on "Hydroponics for Home Gardeners" on the sidebar of this page and getting a copy of the hydroponics gardening guide offered there.

I bought 3 of the Aerogarden units for myself for Christmas 2 years ago. There has not been a time since then that, at least, one if not all three of the gardens have been in use. They will not feed a family of 4; but, for fresh greens for a sandwich or a few tomatoes just for a snack or for fresh herbs year round, they are wonderful. I can harvest and dehydrate herbs at least 5 times from each planting. The Aerogardens are so easy to use; and, I can get a 2 or 3 week start on the plants that I want to put outside in the big beds in the Spring. They are a lot of fun and make great night lights.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Nancy. That’s just the kind of thing I was hoping to hear. I’m glad your AeroGardens are useful for you.
