Winter's Just Beginning, and It Threatens Your Survival
A high temperature of 63 degrees one day, 13 the next. It happened just a few days ago in the part of the country where I live. Another crippling ice storm made headlines for several days, this time in the Northeast.
Winter starts this weekend, and spring won’t come around for quite a while. Several scientists say colder weather is directly related to the inactivity of the sun. Solar cycle 24 is slow in developing. Sunspots have been few and far between, and they haven’t amounted to much when they have appeared. If the lull in sunspots and the recent weather is any indication, this is going to be a rough winter. Perhaps the next several winters will be colder than what we’ve experienced in recent years, so we’d better be prepared.
How well prepared are you for winter weather? If you’re not prepared for winter weather, you certainly aren’t prepared for winter storms. Don’t assume you know all there is to know about winter preparedness. It’s when people are confident in their past experience that they make fatal mistakes, according to the author of the book Deep Survival.
That’s why you should get a copy of “Winter Storm Survival Basics.” This 22 page report contains helpful information pulled from FEMA and the National Weather Service, together in one place for your convenience. Discover what you need to know about winter weather itself, important terms used by the National Weather Service, and tips you can use to prepare your home, car, even your workplace for the worst that winter has to offer.
