Have a Steam Canner in Your Survival Kitchen

Some people are already thinking ahead to canning season, even though it’s not harvest time for most garden crops.  Of course, it's not that many weeks until you'll have green beans.  It’s a good idea to be thinking ahead, and getting canning supplies now is the way to make the best of a good idea.  Lehman’s has canning supplies for those who have been doing it for a while and for beginners.  One of their many offerings is a a steam canner that serves more than one purpose.

This convenient steam canner from Lehman’s saves time, energy and water.  Plus, the lid doubles as a 10 quart stockpot, and the base and rack make an excellent roaster.  It’s made of non-rust aluminum that resists chipping.  It holds 7 quarts or 9 pints.

If you can lots of fruit or tomatoes, Lehman’s says you may never go back to a water bath method again.  That’s because steam canning is a quicker and easier way to process fruit, jams, applesauce, tomatoes and other high acid foods.  Lehman’s is quick to point out that they do not recommend processing vegetables in a steam canner. You should always follow USDA recommendations when canning and processing food.  Get a copy of the Ball Blue Book from Lehman’s to guide you through the best canning methods and procedures for various foods.

This steam canner uses only 3 pints of water.  It cuts preheating time in half because there's much less water to boil, and it won’t boil over.  Your kitchen stays cooler in the heat of summer.  You also don’t have to fuss with the heavy lifting of racks.  You’ll be glad to know that complete instructions are included.

Order this Convenient Steam Canner from Lehman’s by clicking on their logo below.  On their home page type item number 8640 in the search box, and you’ll be taken to the page featuring this steam canner.  You can add it to your cart to order.

Guys, if you’re family is into survival gardening and your wife doesn’t have a steam canner, this would make a very practical gift.  It would also be useful for a couple who’s into prepping and just starting their household.  So, order today.

Tammy @ 12:26 pm:

I purchased a steam canner at a garage sale and I noticed two holes at the base of the tall kettle directly opposite of one another, are they there for a reason?

I don't know the answer to your question, but you might try calling Lehman's at 1-888-438-5346 during regular business hours and see if they can help you out. If anyone else reading this has an answer, please leave a comment.
