A Homemade Ice Cream Maker for Survival?

OK, I admit it.  You don’t actually need a homemade ice cream freezer as part of your survival supplies.  However, when times are tough and the chips are down, it’s nice to have a luxury—a morale booster, if you will.  Ice cream is comfort food, and it may be just the thing to have in adverse conditions.

One of my favorite things about summer when I was a kid was making and eating homemade ice cream.  It was a rare treat we had when visiting certain relatives.  Plain old vanilla tasted out of this world.  Following this treat later with a round of fireworks was a lot of fun around the Fourth of July.

We got our own ice cream maker at home, but didn’t use it often.  Somehow it just wasn’t the same as having homemade ice cream at somebody else’s house.  Who knows why a kid would think that way?

If you’d like to enjoy the wonderful homemade ice cream treats you remember as a kid, or want to share a little of the past with your family, you’ll be glad to know that Lehman’s has White Mountain Hand-cranked Ice Cream Freezers.

Part of the fun of homemade ice cream is making it.  We used to take turns cranking.  By the time the ice cream mixture freezes, you’re getting more arm exercise because it’s harder to turn the crank.  It’s definitely worth the effort.  In about 20 minutes or so, you’ll have a cold, creamy, sweet dessert that’s better than anything you can buy at the store.  Nothing else tastes like homemade ice cream.  It’s fun to experiment by adding fruits or your favorite flavors.

Lehman’s says White Mountain freezers freeze faster and last longer than other brands.  There’s an exclusive three-gear "Triple Action" drive for a smooth texture and fast, even freezing.  You get a stainless steel can for the ice cream mixture.  The tub is wooden, which is good because plastic tubs can't freeze ice cream as fast or as hard.  You can make a lot of ice cream in this 6 quart hand-cranked ice cream maker.

Lehman's has homemade ice cream mixes and a recipe book as well.  Why not get a mix or two and the other ingredients you'll need, put them in your survival pantry, and make homemade ice cream when events call for a cool summer time survival treat.  Make sure you’ve got plenty of salt in your survival supplies for this treat.  You’ve probably already got some set aside for other uses, like melting ice in winter.

To order your White Mountain homemade ice cream freezer, click on the Lehman's logo.  Then type item 1764306 in the search box, and you'll be taken to the page where you can get more info and place your order by adding to your cart.

By the way, if you can think of a situation that might call for using an ice cream maker to temporarily get something really cold, let me and my readers know.  There may be a good reason an ice cream maker could be used resourcefully in survival situations, but the rest of us haven’t thought of it yet.

Or maybe it’s worth having a White Mountain ice cream freezer from Lehman’s just because…
